Classic Competition Pro joystick fixed

I’ve just given that manky looking Comp pro joystick a wipe and it’s come up quite nicely I think.

Having a peek inside to see if I can swap out the failing fire button microswitches and was in for a surprise.

They’re not microswitch but leaf switch….very nice!

It’s an easy fix really as over time the two metal parts that complete the circuit become separated to the point that pressing the firebutton doesn’t make contact anymore. Using small pliers, I reduced the gap between the contacts.

It works much better now and is nice and responsive again.

I’ll have to keep an eye out for more comp pros joysticks as the innards could easily be used on a Mame cabinet, custom controller….hmmm, gives me an idea!
